Liverpool have had a A?4m bid for Burnley striker Danny Ings rejected by the club, report Liverpool ECHO. Ings’ club has asked Liverpool to wait till the summer to take anything forward.
Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with the player, so have La Liga side Real Soceidad. Besides, several other clubs including Chelsea have also reportedly shown interest in last season’s Championship Player of the Year. Liverpool ECHO have reported that out of all the linked clubs, the Reds are Ings preferred choice of club.
Reports started doing rounds yesterday that the Reds had joined the race for the England U-21 striker and were interested in signing him right now but loaning him back to the Clarets till the end of the season. Such a deal would make sense since Daniel Sturridge would return to the side after his injury and the Reds have Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert within their ranks, none of whom would be offloaded right now. With Origi returning to Anfield next season, Liverpool’s Italian strike duo is expected to be shipped off, somethin that would certainly happen if Ings were to come as well.
Reacting to reports that Ings could sign for the Reds but stay on loan with the Clarets, Burnley released a statement where chief executive Lee Hoos said: a This type of move would violate Premier League rule V7 regarding transfers so simply cannot happen.

If Burnley can survive in the top flight this season, they could get about A?50million, a huge sum for the side, and they need Ings to stay put and and score the goals they need.
Since loaning him back is not an option according to the Premier League rules, Liverpool have been asked to only contact the club at the end of the season for a potential deal. Ings contract expires in the summer but because he is under 24 years of age, he would not come for free, but instead cost the Reds about A?3m in compensation.
