In an attempt to boost their midfield, Liverpool have made an opening bid of around 10 million pounds for German attacking midfielder Leroy Sane.

The latest in a slew of Bundesliga players associated with a move to Liverpool following the arrival of former Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp, Leroy Sane has been approached by Liverpool, according to a Daily Express report. A German newspaper reported that his club, Schalke 04, have already received an offer from Liverpool.

.

Klopp, who has been an admirer of the player from his days in the Bundesliga, may prefer to make a move for the player to be transferred from Schalke 04, rather than going for players he coached at Dortmund. The Liverpool coach would also be likely to have the links and contacts in Germany to pull it off.

Manchester United Interest

According to The Sun, Manchester United have also been long time admirers of the 19-year-old German, with Louis van Gaal making him one of his top priorities after the injury to Antonio Valencia during the Manchester derby.

It is estimated that the player will cost around 12 million pounds, despite his relative inexperience, due to the high ratings that scouts have given him.

Another Young Schalke Player On The Rise

After the likes of Manuel Neuer, Mesut Ozil, Julian Draxler and Max Meyer, it looks like Leroy Sane is the latest young player from Schalke 04 who is on the way to the top.

The player had been impressive in a Champions League encounter against Real Madrid in early 2015, which Schalke won 5-4, and had just recently been called up for the senior squad in their ill-fated friendly against France at the Stade De France.
