Liverpool Interested In Kovacic, No Bids Made; Inter Have No Interest In Selling

Kovacic Inter

Mateo Kovacic and Liverpool have been used in the same sentence for quite a while now and there are no suggestions this will stop anytime in the near future.

Too many “reports” in Italy and Croatia state there has been an agreement between Liverpool and Inter Milan regarding the Croatian midfielder.

Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio finally has something on the player and the club on his website. David Amoyal writes for the website: There have been many reports that gave the midfielder joining Liverpool, but they appear to just be rumors at the moment. Inter in fact wants to keep Kovacic, who recently signed an extension with the nerazzurri. Inter plans on making him a central piece of Mancini’s project. While Liverpool is interested there is no on going negotiation, Inter would only consider selling him should they receive an offer they can’t refuse.

Di Marzio is widely considered to be a person who knows exactly what is going on in Italy and the fact that his site is finally running something on the matter must give an indication as to where things truly stand.

Fabrizio Romanzo, who also works for the website, also tweeted on the matter and said that while Liverpool are interested, Inter do not confirm that a bid was made for the player.

In conclusion, from where things stand, it looks like Liverpool’s interest in the player is legitimate and genuine but the Reds are yet to place an official bid. There are some reports in England stating Liverpool will only conduct business after Raheem Sterling is sold and they have funds from the sale. Therefore, while this transfer does look likely, we might have to wait for some weeks to see it happen, if it does.
