Usually reliable journalist, Gianluca Di Marzio, also reported Liverpoola s interest, but insisted that the Merseyside club are yet submit any concrete offer.
Overall it seemed as if Liverpool werena t too keen to meet Intera s demands of A?21.5m, while Roberto Mancini was desperate to pair him with new signing Geoffrey Kondogbia in the midfield. Kovacica s agent Nikky Vuksan has now dismissed reports linking the midfielder with a move away from San Siro, while claiming that Liverpoola s interest (along with Real Madrid and Barcelona) were nothing more than media gossip.

a Mateo is very happy at Inter and will not leave.
a This is for certain. We just renewed his contract to 2019 and therefore there is nothing more to add. His first outings in a new position went well and Ia m happy for him.
a What about Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool interest? It was just rumours. Simple gossip put about by various media outlets.
a There was no truth in it. Mateo is staying at Inter.a – Nikky Vuksan told FcInterNews.it.
The Reds have already signed James Milner this season and they already have the likes of Jordan Henderson, Joe Allen, Emre Can and Lucas Leiva in their squad at the moment. While Kovacic is a wonderful talent, and his arrival will lift the spirits among the fans, he will take time to reach his full potential. After signing Christian Benteke, Brendan Rodgers might now look for another wide attacker, who can replace Raheem Sterling.
