Liverpool In Talks With Monaco For Abdennour; Agent Confirms Interest

Liverpool FC have begun talks with AS Monaco for the transfer of 25-year-old center back Aymen Abdennour. The defendera s agent has also confirmed the English cluba s interest.

Aymen Abdennoura s future at Monaco has come under a lot of speculations this summer. The Tunisian international initially joined Monaco on a six-month loan deal from Toulouse. Having impressed during that loan period, Monaco decided to sign him permanently last year.

The center back has produced some solid performances for the French club last season, especially during their run in the Champions League, and that has drawn a lot of attention towards him this summer. Tottenham Hotspur, Napoli, AS Roma and Arsenal have scouted the defender for a long time, and now Barcelona, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Liverpool have been linked with a move for him.

Aymen Abdennoura s agent, Abdelkader Jilani, has revealed that the Merseyside club is one of his suitors in this transfer window and that Monaco are open to selling him.

.

a There are lots of big clubs that are interested in Abdennour,

“There are clubs who have approached us and who will enter into contact with Monaco. There is AC Milan, Inter Milan, Barcelona and Liverpool.

“I dona t think that Monaco will prevent Aymen from leaving.a a Abdelkader told Foot Mercato.

Liverpool are keen on bolstering their squad in this transfer window and have already made a lot of exciting new signings, including the recent coup of Brazilian international Robert Firminho. With Martin Skrtel, Mamadou Sakho, Kolo Toure and Dejan Lovren in the squad, Brendan Rodgers does have a lot of options when it comes to center backs. He has even used Emre Can in that role last season. But despite so many options, the Merseyside cluba s defence looked shaky for most of the season last time around. Rodgers has perhaps earmarked Abdennour as the long-time replacement for Kolo Toure, who is 34, and Skrtel, who is also approaching the wrong side of his thirties.

Abdennour has four more years left in his current contract and having bought him for a 13m, Monaco are unlikely to sell him for cheap. But the English club have opened talks regarding this transfer and will hope to negotiate a reasonable price.
