Liverpool Have Made A Move For Xherdan Shaqiri: Sky Italia

Liverpool and Xherdan Shaqiri reports seems to run hand in hand since the summer. The Reds have visibly been in for the player since the World Cup and wanted to sign the talismanic Swiss in the summer itself. However, Bayern Munich at the time, was keen to hold on to the player they thought of as the long term replacement of Franck Ribery.

Developments over the past two months have shown that the ‘Alpine Messi’ feels unwanted at Allianz Arena, and is (according to the reported commmets of Guardiola). Shaqiri has been told he can leave in the upcoming transfer windows.

Liverpool were reportedly looking to get the player they targeted in the summer now, but recent reports claimed that Juventus had agreed a loan transfer for the player, with a view of making it permanent at the end of the season. It seemed like the Reds’ chances were over, but recently, it has been revealed that Liverpool have made a permanent offer for the pacey winger and want to fight off the interest of the Juventus as well as Inter Milan.

Cannavale has sourced this information from Manuele Baiocchini who is a Sky journalist and has a verified account on Twitter. This has been reported by Sky Italia, hence it can have some credibility to it. However, at this point, rumors are at an all time high, so it would be difficult to trust any and every report. Liverpool would be the favorites to land the former Basel man, since they’re making a permanent offer as opposed to a loan one made by Juventus and Inter. Shaqiri would also be tempted by the offer of the Premier League, and Liverpool are seemingly doing better now and the Swiss star will be able to contribute heavily to their quest of top 4.

Despite Liverpool having a lot of attacking options in the form of Sterling, Coutinho, Lallana and Markovic, getting Shaqiri would be a no-brainer. The player will be able to add another dimension to the Reds squad and be a huge threat to have within the ranks. Brendan Rodgers’ most successful signings have come in the winter – Coutinho and Sturridge – and even though the boss has ruled out major transfer activity this January, Liverpool fans would be hoping he can get this talented attacker for the team and the club can ensure a top 4 finish.
