Liverpool FC To Trigger Bacca’s Release Clause: Report

Liverpool FC have just completed the signing of Roberto Firmino, and are set to move on to other targets now, including Sevilla and Colombia’s Carlos Bacca.

Liverpool have been linked with Sevilla’s Carlos Bacca in the last few days. The 28 year-old has been identified as the striker the club wants to bring in this summer, as they cooled their interest in Christian Benteke.

The Mirror report that the Reds want to trigger Bacca’s A?21.5million release clause to ensure a deal is done quickly as there are a number of clubs interested in his signature including arch rivals Manchester United and Serie A clubs AC Milan and AS Roma.

Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi said that if a club wanted to buy him, they’d have to pay his release clause.

a Baccaa s contract includes obligations for the club and player, but if a club wants to pay his release clause, therea s little we can do.a

a I think hea ll continue with us because he wants to and so does Sevilla. We have no intention of selling him. If someone wants Bacca, they have to pay his clause. Hea s told us that ita s his desire to stay with the club and I dona t see any other possibility.a

Bacca scored 28 goals and provided 9 assists in 56 competitive club games for Sevilla. He also scored two goals in the final of the Europa League helping his side to the title. The player is likely to command a fee of around A?20million.

The Colombian has enjoyed consistently prolific seasons in the past and could guarantee Liverpool goals and natural goalscorer abilities they so desperately require.

The Reds face plenty of competition for the player and Serie A side Roma have already confirmed their interest in the player.

“We want Bacca,” Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini said to Spanish newspaper ABC. “But I cannot say anything more.”
