Liverpool FC Team News: Firmino, Benteke Back In Training; Ings, Gomez Injury Rocks The Reds Ahead Of Spurs Clash

Liverpool FC have some good news and some bad on the injury front as they travel to White Hart Lane to take on an in-from Tottenham Hotspur in manager Jurgen Klopp’s first game in charge.

Jurgen Klopp’s first game in charge of the Anfield outfit sees him take on a Spurs side that has won three of their last four games and has remained unbeaten since their loss on the opening day at Old Trafford.

Liverpool, however, will be without the services of Joe Gomez as well as Danny Ings, with both players out for the rest of the season following a rupture of their ACL in the knee.

While Gomez injured himself on international duty, Ings was injured after twisting his knee during Klopp’s first training session in charge.

There were some good news though, with regards to the injuries to Roberto Firmino (Back) and Christian Benteke (Hamstring) with both the players back on the ground, but not yet training with the team and hence will miss the Spurs tie.

Klopp was quoted as saying by Goal.com that the duo are expected back in team training by next week.

“Benteke and Firmino are back on the pitch, not team training but better and better. I don’t know exactly when they will come back, but I hope to see next week them in team training. Hopefully it can go quick, and they will be ready for playing.

“For sure, not Saturday, and I don’t think Thursday [against Rubin Kazan]. For next Sunday, ask me next week!”

Liverpool FC will also be without the services of long-term absentee Jon Flannagan and captain Jordan Henderson, but will otherwise have a full squad to choose from, including defender Dejan Lovren who is back from an ankle injury.
