Liverpool close in on Southampton right back Nathaniel Clyne.
Liverpool have just completed the big signing of Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim and have already launched a A?12.5million bid to sign England defender Nathaniel Clyne from Southampton.

The offer for Clyne, who won the first of his five England caps against Slovenia last November, is understood to be a A?10.5m downpayment plus A?2m in add-ons.
The addition of a right back is very important for the club as Glen Johnson left this summer, Javier Manquillo has been rumored to be wanted by Benfica or could head back to Atletico Madrid and Jon Flanagan has been injured for 12 months now.
The Southampton right back was one of the best right backs in the league last season. His departure from the south coast club seems imminent as Southampton have signed Sporting Lisbon’s Cedric Soares to ensure the right back spot is already filled.
Clyne began his career at Crystal Place, where he started at the age of 7. He went up the youth ranks and cemented himself in the senior squad after making his debut as a 17 year old. He was named a Crystal Palacea s Player of the Yeara after the 2010-11 season, where he featured for the side in every single game, becoming the youngest player in the Football League to do so. In July 2012, he was signed by newly promoted Southampton. Clyne has made 104 appearances since joining Southampton from Crystal Palace in 2012. His good performances over the last season even earned him a call up to the England squad and he is establishing himself as the first choice right back for England.
The Merseyside club is keen to ensure that a weak summer doesn’t hamper the side’s chances in the season, like it did last season. In addition to Roberto Firmino, they’ve already got England midfielder James Milner and goalkeeper Adam Bogdan on free transfers from Manchester City and Bolton respectively. Burnley striker Danny Ings’ services have also been obtained for a price set to be determined by a transfer tribunal in January.
