After a few draws in domestic and European competitions, Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp has finally manage to notch-up the first win for his side, as Nathaniel Clyne scored the only goal of the match for the Reds, against AFC Bournemouth, in the Capital One Cup Round of 16 tie.
The Liverpool FC boss was quite happy with this win, but reiterated the fact that his side have been playing the same level of football in the previous games as well. the only difference was that they were not able to register the victories.
.
“I feel much better than after a draw — but I don’t think the other games were so much worse than today, the result is the biggest difference,” Klopp was quoted saying in ESPN.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager also reiterated the fact that his side had very little time to prepare for the matches, due to the demanding schedule of the English season.
“We did well tonight as we did not have too much time for training between the games — we had only one hour training with this new team and system,” said Klopp.
“Minute-by-minute we got better and for the whole 90 minutes we played football,” he continued. “I am satisfied, the boys did really well.”
Praise for young Koppers from Klopp
Klopp is known to give a lot of encouragement to the young players in his squad, and we saw exactly that, after the match, on Wednesday, as he was all praises for his youngsters.
He gave a first look to the Liverpool fans, of Liverpool’s own academy graduates, Cameron Brannagan, Joao Teixeira and Connor Randall, all of whom had a good game, out at Anfield. However, the 48-year-old German had special praises in store for Liverpool FC’s Brazilian playmaker Roberto Firminho, who had an exceptional performance.
“It is important for a new player when he comes to a club to show this but he does not have to show me because I know him very well,” said Klopp, about the 24-year-old. “We know a little bit more about him, it was very intensive for him tonight.
“He is ready. He is prepared for this league, he is physically strong, a good technician and usually he is a good finisher. A good player.”
This was the Klopp’s first win at Anfield, as the Kop are gradually adjusting themselves with their newest manager, who replaced Brendan Rodgers, in the Liverpool FC hotseat. It remains to be seen whether Klopp can revive the Reds, in the same way as he took Borussia Dortmund back to their glory days.
