Much was expected from Luis Alberto after the “highly rated” attacking midfielder was snapped up in the summer of 2013 for A?7m.
To be fair, Alberto didn’t get too many chances for the Reds and when he did, he did provide some flair. He was sent out on loan at Malaga last season and an impressive campaign for the Spanish side could have helped his case, but an average one ensured his future at Liverpool looks extremely bleak.
He now joins La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna on loan and would hope that a good campaign can ensure his career is revived, which could earn him a move to a top side next season.
a I want to reconnect with the pitch, enjoy myself, give joy to the fans and return the faith of my Coach,a Alberto said.
a I spoke with the coach (Victor Sanchez), who knew me from Sevilla. He told me to come here and that Ia d be very happy and feel like a player again at the level of two years ago.
.
a He knows me and where I have to improve, and now Ia ll put myself at his disposal. Ia m really looking forward (to playing under him).
a (Depora s objectives) are the same as they were at Malaga last season. We must think about survival and once thata s achieved something else.a
Alberto was expected to be a player for the future for Liverpool and that has clearly not happened for the Spaniard. However, if he could do something extraordinary on loan, he might still have a future at the Anfield side even though he has been told otherwise. Could he though?
