Lionel Messi Ruled Out For Eight Weeks, Will Return For El Clasico

. FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi faces up to two months on the sidelines after sustaining a torn ligament in his left knee during the clash against Las Palmas.

Arguably the world’s best footballer, Messi suffered the knee injury in the 10th minute of the tie following a clash with defender Pedro Bigas Rigo. The striker tried to continue after being injured, but was eventually replaced by Munir El Haddadi after he was unable to continue.

Messi was then taken to a hospital to determine the extent of his injury. Luis Suarez scored twice to help the Blaugrana claim victory over Las Palmas and helped his team to the top of La Liga.

The Argentine striker will miss FC Barcelona’s clash against Sevilla, Ray Vallecamo, Eibar, Getafe and Villareal in the league along with the Champions League clash against Bayer Leverkusen and BATE Borisov. The 28-year-old will also miss four World Cup qualifiers for Argentina which includes the ties against Ecuador, Paraguay, Colombia and Brazil. However, Messi is expected to return in time for the El Clasico in Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on 22nd November.
