Laporta Plays The Pogba Card Ahead Of Barcelonaai??i??s Presidential Election

FC Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta has claimed that he will sign Paul Pogba from Juventus, if he wins the election.

Paul Pogbaa s future at the Turin based club has been up for speculation this summer. The 22-year-old is one of the hottest young talents in the game currently and a host of clubs are rivalling for his signature. The French internationala s reputation has grown by leaps and bounds since he joined Juventus from Manchester United in 2012. Even at such a young age, Pogba has become one of the most influential first team players, first under Antonio Conte, and now under Massimiliano Allegri.

Pogba has already won three back to back Serie A titles with Juventus and was a crucial part of the team which reached the final of the Champions League last season, where they were eventually defeated by a rampant Barcelona side. Manchester City, Chelsea and PSG, have all been linked with a move for the Juventus midfielder, but it is Barcelona who are believed to be the favourites to land him.

Promising big name stars ahead of presidential elections is a common practice for candidates in both Barcelona and Real Madrid. Former Barcelona president Joan Laporta, who is also running for the poll this season, has earmarked Pogba has his prime target. Laporta has assured that he will sign the Frenchman if he wins the election, which is scheduled on 18th of July. The 52-year-old insisted that Pogba is a enthusiastica about signing for the Catalan club and that he would use his relation with Mino Raiola, Pogbaa s agent, to seal the deal.

“Pogba would be a great signing. He is a very strong player, very young and he is enthusiastic to arrive here.

Juventus are determined to hold on to Pogba for one more season at least and with Barcelona banned from signing players till January 2016, it could play out well for them. Chelsea meanwhile have also stepped up their interest in the midfielder and could include Oscar in a player plus cash offer.
