Juventus Director Guiseppe Marotta Rules Out Moves For Midfielders Isco And Oscar

The Bianconeri have been reported to be chasing an attacking midfielder this summer, but Juventus general director Guiseppe Marotta has shut the door on the potential transfers of Chelsea FC midfielder Oscar as well as Real Madrid star Isco.

Serie A and Coppa Italia champions Juventus, have been on the look-out for a playmaker throughout the summer transfer window, with the likes of Oscar, Isco, Mario G tze and Julian Draxler all linked with Massimiliano Allegri’s side.

Juventus managing director Giuseppe Marotta has, however, confirmed that Isco and Oscar would not be arriving in Turin any time soon, insisting that the Bianconeri are merely chasing a midfielder rather than a specific type of midfield player.

Marotta confirms Juventus will not sign Isco or Oscar

The Italian giants are known to have made an unsuccessful bid for Schalke star Julian Draxler, indicating that Allegri is after an attacking midfielder to strengthen his side for the defence of the Scudetto next season.

Two potential options for that role have, however, been ruled out by Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta. Speaking to Italian media outlet Quotidiano Sportivo, the 58-year-old said (via Mail Online):

“A trequartista? We are looking for a midfielder numerically, not with any specific qualities, but in the context of a very eclectic midfield which includes Pogba, Marchisio, Khedira and Pereyra.

a Dybala could play as a trequartista. Isco and Oscar are two players who arena t extraordinary, but they would add to Juventus. Unfortunately they arena t ours and we will never sign them.”

Mario G tze remains only big-name option for Juventus

Juventus have been linked with a whole host of playmakers throughout the summer window, but if the Bianconeri do sign a ‘big name’ attacking midfielder, the chances are that the purchase will be from a Bundesliga club.

German side Schalke have already confirmed that they have rejected a sizeable offer from Juventus for their star man Julian Draxler, whilst Bavarian giants Bayern Munich have expressed their intention to keep a 37 million signing Mario G tze at the club.

.

With Schalke reportedly refusing to entertain any interest in Draxler, however, G tze remains the best option for the Bianconeri if they are in fact committed to signing a quality attacking midfielder. The 23-year-old has so far remained coy about rumours linking him with a potential move away, however, he has in fact expressed an interest in trying out a ‘new culture’.

Although it will not be an easy deal to make, Juventus could use the recent sale of Vidal to the Bavarians as a bargaining tool for any future negotiations over G tze. As it stands though, it seems as though Allegri will have to make do with the attacking talent already at his disposal as he prepared his team for the fast-approaching new Serie A season.
