Liverpool FC’s new manager Jurgen Klopp has vowed to improve the defence of the Reds, stating that every great side is built upon one.
The lack of goals at Liverpool FC has been a recent problem, which compounded the long-term problem at the club of being poor defensively, right from the time Brendan Rodgers had taken over in 2012.

Following the sacking of the Northern Irishman, German manager Jurgen Klopp has been given the reigns of the Anfield dugout.
The German has wasted no time in emphasising that the defence at the club has to improve, as all top sides are built on great defence.
Defence the key to becoming great again — Klopp
Emphasizing on the need to defend better, Klopp told LFCTV, as quoted saying by This Is Anfield:
a In these days in football, all the world-class teams play the opposite of football. I like to watch this; Bayern Munich, great team, great club; Barcelona, yes; Real Madrid; maybe on some days, Manchester City. But nobody starts as a ball possession team.
a The first thing, always, maybe in life, you need to have a stable defence. Nobody starts a development from the top of the table. We can start our development today, tomorrow. If ita s possible, can we be the hardest team to beat in the world? Leta s try to be this.”
Klopp calls for patience
Brendan Rodgers was often heard saying that the expectations of Liverpool FC fans after the 2013-14 season was a big reason for the clubs’ fans being frustrated.
The German asked the fans to be patient and not jump to conclusions about his side in the very next game against Spurs.
He said: a First of all, we have to talk to all Liverpool fans about what our expectations [are]. Expectations can be a big problem.
a It needs a lot of time until the end. Ia m not here to promise you will see against Tottenham the absolute new Liverpoola but some of the new Liverpool would be cool.
a Thata s what wea ll try to do. Everything in life takes time.a
