Liverpool FC forward Danny Ings has been the catalyst in the recent revival in Reds’ performance, as per club legend and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher.
.
The injury to Benteke at half-time against Norwich prompted Danny Ings to be drafted in the playing XI.
The forward’s energy, coupled with his ability to run in behind the defenders helps create space. His busy style of play seems to be working very well with Daniel Sturridge.
Carragher hails Ings
Ings had scored in both games before the Villa tie, and put in an impressive display in the weekend against Tim Sherwood’s side.
Hailing the forward’s impact, Carragher was quoted as saying by Liverpool Echo:
a There are great signs in that partnership between Sturridge and Ings,.
a After Danny Ings came on against Norwich in the second half last week the performance was much better, Liverpool created chances.
a Sturridgea s finishing deserves the accolades but a lot of it is coming from Danny Ings pressing people, running in behind and making the game quicker. Thata s where the chances are coming from.”
Benteke has his task cut out to regain his place– Carragher
Christian Benteke, Liverpool FC’s 32m GBP signing is expected to recover from his hamstring injury in time for the Merseyside derby.
However, Carragher believes that the way Ings has been playing, it will be difficult for Benteke to come back in the XI.
He said: a With the performance he put in at the weekend and the way Danny Ings is playing, when Christian Benteke comes back it will be difficult for Brendan Rodgers to get Benteke in the team. Danny Ings has made a big difference for Liverpool.”
