James Denies Rift Between Rafael Benitez and Sergio Ramos

Real Madrid attacker James Rodriguez has denied reports that there is a rift between Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos and manager Rafael Benitez.

Rafael Benitez had publicly questioned defender Sergio Ramos after a penalty was conceded to Atletico Madrid in the 1-1 draw. The defender had snapped back at the Spanish manager, questioning his substitution at half-time.

The media in Spain tried to suggest that there was simmering tension between the duo, however, Real Madrid superstar James has refuted those suggestions.

James denies rift between Benitez and Ramos

Stating that the atmosphere at Santiago Bernabeu is a healthy one, James was quoted as saying by Goal.com: “I don’t know what happened between Ramos and Benitez.

“All I can say is that there is always a good atmosphere at the club.”

The Colombian, who has made only two appearances for Real Madrid this season, is currently out injured with a thigh injury. However, he is expected to make his comeback soon.

“The recovery is going well,” he added.

“I don’t know if I’ll be available for the next game, though. I’m still a little way off.”

Coentrao lambasts Real Madrid press for having an agenda against him

Former Real Madrid defender Fabio Coentrao, who is currently on loan at Monaco, had rather harsh words for the local Madrid-based media.

He told Marca: “Honestly? Yes, I think they were [unfair]. I feel as though they never gave me the benefit of the doubt.

“If I had a bad game, they attacked me immediately. If I played well, they gave it very little recognition. Even today, I still ask myself why I was the media’s ‘ugly duckling.'”
