Indian Super League: NorthEast United FC Manager Cesar Farias Rues Wasted Opportunity

NorthEast United FC and FC Pune City cling on to their hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals of Indian Super League when both the teams go head to head on Wednesday.

Both NorthEast United and FC Pune City need a victory if they are to qualify for the play-offs but will still have to depend upon Chennaiyin FC to drop points in match 55 of the Hero Indian Super League when they face the Stallions.

NorthEast United manager Cesar Farias reflected on the teama s performance and rued that they messed it up in their previous match, but refused to give up.

a It’s true that we had a big possibility in the last game but we let it slip through our hands. But it is also true that we still have a possibility. It’s not impossible. You have got to keep going and concentrate on what’s coming up next. Wea ll fight till we have the slightest of chances to make it. These are big games and a win can make all the difference for us.a

Chennaiyin managed to pip NorthEast United FC to the fourth place and are now the favourites with a match against fellow contenders FC Pune City remaining. The Highlanders, though, finish their campaign on Wednesday but even a win wouldna t guarantee them a place in the semis, rather they will have to hope that the result of match 55 goes in their way. Farias recognises the importance of the match and refuses to give up the chase for a berth in the semis

a Ita s a big game and necessary (to win) for both teams. We will have to risk a lot of things,a said Farias.
