Indian Super League: Harmanjot Singh to miss four match for Chennaiyin due to suspension

The hotly contested match between NorthEast United and Chennaiyin FC in the Hero Indian Super League match saw tempers flaring on multiple occassion and Chennaiyin FC midfielder Harmanjot Singh Khabra was one who found it hard to control his tempers.

Harmanjot Singh Khabra, found guilty of breaching multiple AIFF disciplinary code, has been suspended for four matches of Hero Indian Super League which includes one automatic suspension. Khabra has also been fined Rs Three Lakh for his poor behaviour towards the match officials during the match held at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Guwahati.

The Hero Indian Super League organisers confirmed the punishment via a press release that states “Harmanjot Singh Khabra, Jersey No.18 of Chennaiyin FC has been suspended for four matches of Hero Indian Super League, including one automatic suspension and fined Rs 300,000 for breach of All India Football Federation Disciplinary Code (Article 50) of Misconduct towards Match Officials during Match 16 played between NorthEast United FC Vs Chennaiyin FC on 20th October 2015 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Guwahati.”

Not only players, but both teams Chennaiyin FC & NorthEast United FC were punished too. Both teams will now have to dole out Rs 50,000 each for the unruly conduct toward their opponents during the match.

Chennaiyin also fell afoul of the AIFF Disciplinary Committee and will have to pay Rs 100,000 for Team Misconduct (Article 53) resulting in Match Referee sanctioning more than five players of Chennaiyin FC during this game.
