Delhi Dynamos scrape past Chennaiyin FC courtesy a generous penalty in their second match of the Hero Indian Super League.

Delhi Dynamos started with a frantic pace in their attack in the opening quarter of the game and were lucky to break the Chennaiyin FC defence as early as in the eight minute. Gustavo Dos Santos went on a jinxing run before laying it off for Hans Mulder, whose shot hit Manuele Blasia s hand for a penalty. Chicao showed his composure as he slotted the penalty to the left of Edel Apoula.

Dynamos, inspired by the early goal, were eager to kill the game and dominated the early proceedings of the game. Soon after that jinxing run from Dos Santos, Malouda produced a run of his own and was forcefully stopped by Potenza on the 11th minute. John Arne Riise wasted the resulting free-kick from just outside the box by shooting it straight at the wall.

Chennaiyin FC, settled from the shock of the early goal, soon produced an attack of their own as Mendoza looked meancing on the attack, as Riise chopped him down to stop the attack. Elano, who had a poor game by his lofty standards, hits freekick hopelessly wide.

Chennaiyin at times had no answer for Gustavo dos Santos, as he again went past Abhishek Das on 21st minute before forcing Edel to tip his shot for a corner. Maloudaa s corner kick found Hans Mulder in the box but Mulder could only head it wide.

Chennaiyin FC on 26th minute went close, as Elanoa s free-kick reached Mendoza whose shot forced Riise to throw his body to block the shot. Chennaiyin then uped the ante in attack forcing the Dynamos deep inside their half. Lalhmangaihsanga Sena Raltea s cross found Harmajot Khabra, but was unable to direct it towards the goal on the 28th minute mark.

Delhi Dynamo found a brief respite to Chennaiyina s attack when Delhi Dynamos broke into a counter, as Richard Gadze went past Bernard Mendy with his sheer acceleration. Edelwas again forced to save the shot and concede a corner.

Chennaiyin would come to rue their luck on the 34th minute, as Anasa poor clearance went straight to Stiven Mendoza but the shot rebounded back from the crossbar.

The second half started the way the first half came to an end Chennaiyin dominating in attack, while Delhi Dynamos happy to absorb the pressure. Quite a risky strategy, as Atletico de Kolkata found out yesterday but Delhi Dynamos would need to thank their defenders Anas and Riise for their resolute performance at the back along with the profligacy of the Chennaiyin forwards.

Chennaiyin, on the hour mark, had two opportunities to level the score but were unable to convert either one of them. Abishek Dasa tame effort from Mendozaa s cross was caught easily by Sanjiban Ghosh, while Balwant could only head it wide from Elanoa s measured cross.

The final few minutes proved to be a scrappy affair, as players with both teams tried some speculative attempts in hopes to see their names in next daya s newspaper. Delhi Dynamo managed to hold on to score line, as the scrappy match came to an end with 39 fouls and 5 yellow card.

Meanwhile Atletico’s Baljit Sahni has been suspended for next two matches of Hero Indian Super League and fined Rs 500,000 (Rupees Five Lakh only) for breach of All India Football Federation Disciplinary Code (Article 58) of Offensive Behavior and Fair Play during the match between FC Goa Vs Atletico de Kolkata on 7th October 2015 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda Goa.
