Atletico de Kolkataa s marquee player Helder Postiga scored a brace against Chennaiyin FC in their opening fixtures of the Hero Indian Super League, but injured himself in the process.

The Portuguese superstar went clear of the Chennaiyin defence when Bernard Mendya s back header went straight to Postiga, who made no mistake by shooting between the onrushing Edel Apoulaa s leg.

Postiga went down on the ground, soon after scoring, and was seen withering in pain before being stretchered off. The reports suggests that Postiga has suffered a grade one tear in his hamstring and is expected to miss out at least 15 to 21 days

The Bengali media, though, reports that the management fears Postiga may be out for at least a month. Atletico despite winning in Chennai, would be the losers if they were to lose out on the services of Postiga for almost half the season.

Atletico de Kolkata manager, Antonio Lopez Habas, was critical of the Chennai pitch and rued the condition for the injury to Helder Postiga in the post match conference.

.

“Postiga played in a very difficult game and was very good. He had to brave too much humidity factor and the pitch was horrible. Unfortunately, he suffered a hamstring injury.a
