One of the hottest transfer rumours doing the rounds is one related to Manchester United and Real Madrid. And no, it is not about David De Gea. Gareth Bale is being tipped to be the subject of a A?96 million transfer bid as Louis Van Gaal looks to add ammunition to his squad at Old Trafford.
But is there any substance to this transfer rumour?
Having disappointed Real Madrid in his first few months in Spain, Gareth Bale came good on the investment after scoring a brilliant goal in the Copa del Rey finals against Barcelona to land Carlo Ancelotti his first trophy and then went on to repeat the heroics in the Champions League finals as Real Madrid clutched on to its much coveted La Decima. Needless to say, he is an important component of the Real Madrid squad and his partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema is the focus of Madrida s attack.
It seems unlikely that Real Madrid will disturb their partnership and with the danger of a transfer ban looming large on the horizon, the Champions League winners will be keen to not let go of a player like Gareth Bale without having the power to replace him in the squad. If Real Madrid were indeed hit with a two transfer window ban, they would have to stay off the market for a period of one year and hence cannot risk losing a player as it will immediately lead to a decline of the squad. At the present moment, Real Madrid have the option of playing Isco in the midfield with James Rodriguez filling the gap on the right flank, but this combination lacks the teeth that Gareth Bale provides with his bursting runs down the flanks.
Gareth Bale is also being moulded into Cristiano Ronaldoa s successor with the Portuguese striker striking the crucial landmark of 30 in terms of his age. Despite being one of the most fittest athletes in the world, Ronaldo will not stay at Madrid for more than two years and it seems that the cluba s board is looking at Bale to fill his goal-scoring shoes. Just 25 years of age, Bale has the potential to develop into one of the worlda s best wingers in the years to come and is a talent that Real Madrid cannot afford to lose. A favourite under Carlo Ancelotti and Florentino Perez, Gareth Balea s chances of leaving Madrid in favour of Manchester United appear to be slim.

Gareth Bale has previously succeeded in the Premier League and will make a strong impact if he were to return to England.
