Steven George Gerrard played his final match for Liverpool FC at the home ground Anfield yesterday. After being associated with the side for more than 20 years the legendary English midfielder bids adieu to his childhood club. Except for a Premier League title, the man has conquered every possible trophy with his fellow club mates.
Now as he turns 35 this month, Gerrard has decided to move out of Liverpool and is supposed to join MLS side LA Galaxy in the next season.
As he played his farewell game at Anfield, footballers all over the world poured in tributes in the social media. Here are a few selective tweets of his ex-team mates and other legendary footballers.

In AS Roma’s official website, legendary Italian footballer Francesco Totti paid a heartfelt tribute to Gerrard saying, a I’d put him in the top three, not just in England but in the world because he’s a complete player, someone who’s always made the difference ever since he was young. And he’s still doing that for Liverpool.a Ultimately he’s a player I like to watch and enjoy up close. The Liverpool fans should be honored to have had a captain like him.

That said, I don’t have particularly fond memories of playing against Liverpool, especially at their place. They were always open games but ultimately the results were negative.a Would I have liked to play alongside him? I think anyone would love to play with players of that calibre. He’s a terrific player; he’s a match winner, so I think he’s a player any club in the world would want.

He’s a player who scores goals, who builds the play, he’s a sensational player.
