Indian Super League: FC Goa Rout Mumbai City FC, AS Dudu and Haokip Bag A Hat-Trick Each

FC Goa rout Mumbai City FC 7-0 in a Round 10 encounter of the Hero Indian Super League

FC Goaa s Thongkoisep Haokip and Dudu Omagbemi worked in tandem, as both forwards managed to bag a hat-trick each as they hammered Mumbai City FC 7-0 in the biggest win of the Indian Super League football on Tuesday. Substitute forward Reinaldo Oliveira too joined in the on the fun, as he put the final nail to Mumbai City FCa s coffin at the Nehru Stadium.

Mumbai City FC held the previous record of trashing FC Pune City 5-0, but the mauling isna t going to help their ambition for a spot in semi-finals after FC Goa, who lost 2-0 at the away fixture, consolidated their spot at the top of the league standings by completing their revenge over the Islanders.

Both teams made few changes to their lineup, but it was the home side that made a bright start to the game with Mandar Rao and Romeo Fernandes dominating the wings.

Mumbai City defender Pavel Cmovs was immense but couldna t stop the collapse but keeper Subrata Paul came to his rescue as he was forced to make a diving save to deny Jofre Gonzalez and Leonardo da Silva Moura from scoring.

The floodgates blew open after Mumbai conceded in the 33rd minute when FC Goa midfielder Jonatan Luccaa s through pass set Dudu free but Dudua s chip was eventually tapped in by Semboi to score the 100th goal of the ISL.

The Guars looked to build on the pressure and doubled the lead in the 41st minute, as defender and captain Lucio moved up with the ball and went past three rival players in his stride before passing the ball to Leonardo Moura assisted Dudu for the second FC Goa goal and his first of the night.

Mumbai City FC lined up to play on the counter and had nearly succeeded in scoring twice but Goa keeper Laxmikant Kattimani stood tall to strikes from Nicolas Anelka and Cristian Bustos. Kattimani on an another occassion, qucikly came off his line to snatch the ball from the feet of Frederic Piquionne who was in a goal-scoring position.

Pundits were dumbfounded as Mumbai City FC collapsed drastically in the second half to concede five more goals. Haokip led from the front in the rout as he slotted the ball into the net with aplomb after defender Cristian Bustos misjudged the flight of a cross from Jofre in the 52nd minute.

The Guars then took complete control of the proceeding and pumped in four more goals. Dudu scored twice in quick succession to score his hat-trick. Haokip scored the fourth hat-trick of the tournament with a gentle push after Romeo Fernandes made a solo run on the right.

Substitute Reinaldo Oliveira then rounded off the tally in the 90th minute to give the home team a memorable win.
