FC Barcelona Will ‘Study Pogba’ If Luis Enrique Wants Him

FC Barcelona have already seen a bid in the region of a 80 million rejected for the transfer of Juventus’ Paul Pogba, but are open to the idea of coming back with a second, according to FC Barcelona board member Jordi Mestre.

Paul Pogba is currently one of the most coveted midfielders in the world, with almost all the top European clubs vying for his signature. FC Barcelona are said to be front-runners in the pursuit of the French midfielder, while Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta having already confirmed that the two clubs have been in negotiations for some time.

Juventus are looking for close to a 100 million for Pogba

The Old Lady had rejected the bid from the Catalan Giants, as it fell short of their evaluation of Pogba, with that estimated to be close to a 100 million. However, Barcelona board member believes that should Enrique want the Frenchman, the board are willing to go back with a second offer.

Josep Maria Bartomeu was last night re-elected as the FC Barcelona president, winning the vote comprehensively with more than 50%. Speaking t0 Cadena Cope, Jordi Mestre said:

“If the coaching team ask for Pogba, we will study it.

“In principle, the squad for next season is finished.

. “But if Luis Enrique asks for some reinforcement somewhere, the door is open.”

FC Barcelona would probably wait for Pogba for another year

The Blaugrana are currently in the middle of a transfer ban, which disables them from registering any new player, before January. The FIFA-imposed ban is due to irregularities in the transfer of youth players to the La Masia.

However, that has not deterred the club, as they have splashed the cash on Atletico Madrid’s Arda Turan and Sevilla’s Aleix Vidal, both ineligible to play for the club till January and both set to spend the duration training with the team, but without playing.

However, the Catalan Giants will probably not spend a 100 million on a player, who cannot play for the next 5 months and would be willing to wait till next year or at-least next January. A player of Pogba’s stature would not agree to spending close to six months of his career sitting in the stands. Juventus have already lost Andrea Pirlo to MLS side New York City FC and are resigned to sell Arturo Vidal with a transfer to Bayern Munich imminent, having already lost two of their star midfielders, they would want to keep hold of Pogba for at-least another season.
