FC Barcelona: Clasico Winner My Most Important Goal, Says Luis Suarez

Luis Suareza s fine finish made the difference for FC Barcelona against Real Madrid and the Uruguay international hailed it as the most valuable goal he has scored for his new club.

Cristiano Ronaldo cancelled out the goal of Jeremy Mathieu in the 31st minute to put Real Madrid on level with FC Barcelona but Luis Suarez scored a fine goal in the 56th minute which proved as a winner for the Catalans and the striker was happy with his own performance.

Luis Suarez said that it was the most crucial goal of his FC Barcelona career so far.

“For now it is the most important goal I have scored with the club and has an extra importance, because of the opponent,” Luis Suarez told TV3.

a It has extra significance because of the opponents it came against. The squad are very happy. We knew the most important thing was to maintain our lead [atop La Liga] and extend it.

a I tried to exploit the space between the [ Real Madrid] defenders and finish the move off as quickly as possible so the centre-backs wouldna t have time [to catch up with me]. Luckily it went well.a

FC Barcelona are now four points ahead of Real Madrid but Luis Suarez has urged his team mates to maintain their focus.

a We know very well that the League is very difficult. We must seize this advantage over a very strong team like Real Madrid.

a Like in all leagues, you never know what might happen if you relax even a little bit.a

Meanwhile, like Luis Suarez, FC Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic was also pleased with the win but asked his team mates to stay grounded and work hard to win the La Liga and Champions League this season.

“We havena t won anything yet. Now we can enjoy the win a bit but wea re aware that therea s a lot more to do,” Rakitic told the official FC Barcelona website.

“Three points against Madrid is always special. It was great for our fans.

“We started the game very well and we could have made it 2a 0. But this is football and ita s unpredictable.

“Now comes the hardest part; the decisive stages of the Champions League and La Liga.”
