FC Barcelona 2-0 Valencia: I Hope To Score Many More, Says Messi After Reaching 400 Goals Landmark

Luis Suarez scored in the first minute for FC Barcelona before Leo Messi struck in the dying seconds as Valencia were made to pay for a missed penalty. This was Leo Messia s 400th goal for Barca and the striker said after the game that he hopes to score many more goals in the years to come.

FC Barcelona have taken a big leap towards securing a La Liga title by overcoming the challenge of resurgent Valencia. The Blaugranaa s lead at the summit was down to two points last weekend when they let a two-goal lead slip in a draw 2-2 at Sevilla. But, FC Barcelona rediscovered their form against Los Che on Saturday as they dominated the proceedings to secure a hard-fought win.

Luis Suarez was the best performer of FC Barcelona in a mid-week game against PSG and he picked up where he left-off against Valencia by scoring after just 55 seconds. After going on the back-foot in first minute, Valencia players did managed to make a strong come-back in the first half but they missed numerous opportunities to equalize. Los Che captain Dani Parejo even missed to score through a penalty while Andre Gomes struck the post for Valencia.

However, FC Barcelona managed to re-group and controlled the proceedings in the second half and Leo Messi netted his 400th goal for his beloved club in the stoppage time.

Lionel Messi was seemingly pleased with his goal and vowed to score many more in days to come.

“Four hundred goals for Barcelona and I hope to score many more!” Messi wrote on his official Facebook page. “However, the most important part is that we got three points from a really tough game.”

FC Barcelona boss Luis Enrique was pleased with the win and congratulated his players for their wonderful display.

a Ita s a great result. I have to congratulate the players because they really gave it their all,a Luis Enrique said after the game.

a The players were drained [from the Champions League last Wednesday], but they still gave a complete performance. Now wea ll make sure wea re ready for Tuesday.a

Luis Enrique also praised the display of Valencia and said that Los Che deserved more for their spirited display.

a It was a different game to any wea d played at Camp Nou previously. We had a wonderful start but struggled to deal with [Valenciaa s] pressure.

a We began to make mistakes. [Valencia] had many chances and probably deserved more.a
