Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea might reject any move from Spanish giants Real Madrid this year, as the playera s heart is set on winning silver ware with the English club, reports suggest.
The Spanish international has had a brilliant season at Old Trafford so far, with his saves single-handedly winning games for Louis van Gaala s side.
De Gea is close to winning the cluba s player of the year award for the second consecutive time this season, and has developed into one of the finest shot-stoppers during his time in England.
But his recent prowess on the football field has attracted the attention of the Blancos, and with the 24-year-olda scontract at Manchester United set to expire in the summer next year, the Champions Leaguea s holders are reportedly interested in bringing the player to Santiago Bernabeu as a replacement for ageing Iker Casillas,
Rumours also suggested that a swap deal between De Gea and Gareth Bale was also on the cards, amidst reports that United had offered a new contract worth a 8 million to the former Atletico Madrid man.
But Spanish sports daily, Marca, believes that both these reports are untrue, insisting that while De Geaa s agent Jorge Mendes has put the playera s name in front of Real Madrida s decision makers, club President Florentino P rez would not be willing to say goodbye to the Welshman.
Moreover with Casillas returning to top form, and Keylor Navas as a sturdy backup, Carlo Ancelotti will be in no hurry to add another goalkeeper to his ranks and will be more than happy to play the waiting game in hopes of snapping the player up as a free transfer next summer.
De Gea, too, is happy to be playing at Manchester United for now, however, he might consider a move back to La Liga if he fails to win any silverware with his current club.
a He is happy in Manchester, having won over the fans, his teammates and the critics, but he wants to be appreciated – and to win trophiesa Marca reported.
a Staying with the Red Devils remains his first choice, but the clock is ticking and Real cast a long shadowa , the newspaper added.
