David Platt Chooses To Stay Tight Lipped About Poor Away Form, Says He Has To Comtemplate A Return Next Season

David Platt and FC Pune City’s season ended with another disappointing result, this time at the hands of Chennayin FC, who ground out a difficult 1-0 win to qualify for the playoffs.

.

FC Pune City, who started the campaign superbly, failed to win in any of their away matches, and that has cost them the points in the end. Asked about the poor run of form, David Platt chose to stay mum, while also admitting that he hasn’t thought about coming back next season.

Last night’s performance summed up FC Pune City’s season, when they controlled the game for large spells, but did not have the cutting edge. Jeje scored the only goal of the match to give Chennayin a 1-0 win, much to the home fans’ disappointment.

Reason for poor away form

Platt’s men failed to win any of their seven away games, and extended their poor of form at home as well, where they won four, drew one, and lost two. The Englishman steered clear of the question about away form, saying that the people who have to know the reason, will know.

“These are things that need to be known by the people of the football club, the club should know, but I don’t think this is my place to talk about it. I have thoughts about what is right what was wrong, but those kind of things need to be discussed with the football club first and foremost and not in the public career.”

On returning next season

David Platt said he has enjoyed the experience in India despite the poor end to their season, but admits he is uncertain of returning next season.

“Not yet. There are a lot of things that need to get in place before I even contemplate that. Not just me necessarily, but there are only eight teams out here so only eight jobs available. And there is family that I’ve been away from for four months. So I’m gonna have to talk it over with them. I’m not going to say yes. I’m not going to say no.”

Platt has been absolutely adored by the Orange Army this season, and the fans would love to see him again next year. Perhaps what he got wrong this time around, was the chopping and changing, because of which the team could not gather themselves together to perform when it mattered most.
