David De Gea Will Stay at Manchester United, Confirms Agent

David De Gea-Manchester United's Saving Grace

David De Geaa s agent, Jorge Mendes, has confirmed that the player is set to stay at Manchester United ,but feels the club is still struggling to find a replacement for a geniusa Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Spanish international joined the Red Devils from La Liga side Atletico Madrid in 2011, and has since then established himself as one of the best between the posts, having made some match-winning saves in his 158 appearances for the English club so far.

His recent string of brilliant performances attracted Spanish giants Real Madrid, and with his contract set to expire next summer, the 24-year-old was linked to a big money move to the Santiago Bernabeu in January.

But Mendes believes that even though there have been no solid talks of a contract extension yet, De Gea will not be leaving Manchester United for another year.

a He has one year left on his contract and I think that he will stay in Manchestera , the playera s representative was quoted as saying by the BBC.

a The player will decide, but he’s happy there, at the momenta , Mendes added.

But despite relieving the Old Trafford club on the subject of their talented shot-stoppera s feared departure, Mendes feels that Manchester United still have the hard task of looking for a perfect replacement for Alex Ferguson, who ended his 27-year-long reign by announcing his retirement in 2013, subtly hinting that the side should have appointed Jose Mourinho as his successor, instead of first bringing in David Moyes and now Louis van Gaal.

a It’s completely impossible to find someone like Sir Alex Ferguson because he’s a god, he’s a genius and to find a genius is very difficulta , Mendes said.

a You have one in England – Jose Mourinho.

a Having Sir Alex Ferguson ensures at this moment you have 12 or 15 points morea , the Portuguese agent further added.

a He’s finished his career, but he’s someone that’s the difference.a

However Mendes also claimed that the ship has now long sailed and Mourinho would never join United, insisting that the Chelsea manager is poised for a long, successful career at the Stamford Bridge.

“Jose will stay for sure,” he added..

“He will be the Sir Alex Ferguson of Chelsea Football Club. He loves the supporters, he loves the city and I think he will stay there for more than 10 years.”
