Cordoba CF 0-8 FC Barcelona: Luis Suarez scores Hat-trick As Barcelona Destroy Cordoba


Rampant FC Barcelona crush Cordoba CF 8-0 to remain at the top of the league table with 87 points from 35 games. Luis Suareza s hat-trick, Lionel Messsia s brace and a goal each from Neymar, Ivan Rakitic and Gerard Pique sealed three points for the Catalan giants.

The rock bottom side of the league successfully held the league leaders until the ending moments of the first half. Ivan Rakitic drew first blood from Lionel Messia s cross. Luis Suarez found Messi at the edge of the box, who generated a fantastic cross towards Rakitic. The Croatian received the ball and converted a brilliant volley goal.

Just at the stroke of half time, Andres Iniesta forwarded a brilliant cross towards Luis Suarez inside the penalty box, who intelligently found the back of the net as the opponent goalkeeper came forward. The teams went into the lemon break with a decent score line.

The second half started with a goal from none other than the marvelous Messi who converted a header from Dani Alvesa cross from the right flank. It was product of brilliant team move by Barcelona players.

In the 53rd minute Luis Suarez doubled his tally with a header. Dani Alves once again ran down the right flank and floated a cross inside the penalty box. An opportunistic Suarez converted a free header. In the 65th minute defender Gerard Pique netted a fifth one from a curling corner taken by Ivan Rakitic. Five goals and it was game set and match for the Catalans.

Ten minutes left before the regulation time would come to an end and Lionel Messi completed his brace. Second half substitute Pedro Rodriguez exchanged a one-two with Messi and passed it towards Suarez. The Uruguayan miss read the pass and the ball went towards the Argentine magician. He tapped in an easy finish. Five minutes later Barcelona was awarded a penalty which added more woes to the opposition. This time Neymar scored from the spot.

Luis Suarez completed his hat-trick by scoring the eighth and the final one for the night to make it even worse for the relegation threatened opposition.

After a sheer domination on the pitch Barcelona manager Luis Enrique said, “Football is a very complex sport.

“We are doing well at the moment, but in every game you must generate these situations of play which bring you closer to the result.

“Until minute 39 we had created chances, but we were not inspired. The goals from Ivan and Luis were good for us, and in the second half we showed a high level of effectiveness.

“They are three key points and I am happy. If you want to win the league you must do your work home and away. Now to see how Madrid get on.”
