Carlo Ancelotti To Take Over From Pep Guardiola As Bayern Munich Manager From 2016/17 Season

Bayern Munich has announced that Italian Carlo Ancelotti will be taking over as the manager at the Bavarian club from the start of the 2016/17 season, after the tenure of Pep Guardiola is over.

Ancelotti has been on a sabbatical since ending his term as the manager of Real Madrid last season, and it seems that the Italian is finally ready to get back in to football management at a top club.

The news was confirmed by Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on Sunday. Current manager Guardiola had mentioned that the latest advancement would be announced on Sunday, and that is exactly what has happened.

“We are thankful for everything that Guardiola has given to this club and we hope that we will have success this season,” said Rummenigge to German newspaper Bild. “With Ancelotti, a very successful coach will come to Bayern again. We are looking forward to working together.”

Clubs swarm in over Pep Guardiola

The former FC Barcelona coach is one of the greatest tacticians in the world of football at the moment, and this perhaps has set a number of clubs on high alert, as Guardiola would be without a contract after the end of the 2015/16 season.

.

Chelsea FC have sacked their fan-favourite manager Jose Mourinho due to poor results, and have appointed Guus Hiddink as the interim coach. They would be looking to sign a new manager and are in the hunt for Guardiola’s signature. Manchester United have also not been performing well and, after a home loss to relegation battling Norwich City on Saturday, there have been a lot of hues and cries to sack manager Louis van Gaal, which could mean that the Red Devils will also try to land Guardiola.

However, Manchester City are said to have been pursuing Guardiola’s signature for a long time, and are favourites to land him at the moment.
