Real Madrid sacked Carlo Ancelotti on Monday after the Italian failed to bring home silverware for a Los Blancosa . While the fans and players were largely supportive of the former Chelsea manager to continue, Florentino Perez stuck by his guns and decided to fire Ancelotti a year after he won the Champions League for the club. Real Madrid are notoriously famous for sacking their coaches almost immediately after they fail to win a trophy and the sacking of Ancelotti is not the only unreasonable and erratic decision made in the cluba s history, as even the likes of Vicente Del Bosque and Jupp Heynckes have failed to hold on to their job despite achieving admirable success at the club.

Carlo Ancelotti
If there is one trophy that Real Madrid loves to win, it is the Champions League. However, from 2002 to 2013, every manager at the club had failed to lay his hands on the Champions League and the dry spell was getting increasingly hurtful for the cluba s image. But in his very first season at the club, Carlo Ancelotti managed to fulfill Real Madrida s dream of winning the La Decima, something which even the Special One failed to do. One season on, Ancelotti finds himself unceremoniously a relieveda from his duties as the cluba s manager. While the Italiana s first season at the club was a dream come true, his second one was a complete nightmare. Ancelottia s side lost the league to Barcelona by two points, were eliminated from the Champions League semi-final by one goal and the Italian lost his job in a few days. Despite the backing of the fans as well as the players, Ancelotti could not spare himself from the sack.
Fabio Capello
After a historically disastrous run of three trophy-less seasons, Real Madrid brought in Fabio Capello to turn their fortune around at the start of 2006-07 season. The Russian did not disappoint as he went on to dramatically win La Liga on the final day of the season on a better head-to-head result over Barcelona. Stuff of dreams, right? Well, it wasna t for Capello as the final game of the season turned out to be the last one for the Italian as Real Madrida s head coach. The current coach of the Russia international team was sacked after his debut season by Ramon Calderon, mainly because the club did not play attractive football under him. Capello must have felt like getting run over by the same bus twice as he was sacked in a similar fashion by the club after winning the league in the 1996-97 season as well.
Bernd Schuster
Bernd Schuster took over the reins from Capello as he was appointed to succeed the Italian at the start of 2007-08 season as Real Madrida s manager. The German brought with him a lot of attacking football and took a Los Blancosa to the top of the league. Appointed from Getafe, Schuster failed in the Champions League but managed to win La Liga with three games to spare and the icing on the cake was the victory over Barcelona at the Camp Nou. He achieved the then highest point total of 85 points in the league in his debut season at the club. However, his regular outbursts in the media and the inability to continue the good run in his second season saw him stepping down from his job in the middle of the 2008-09 season.

Jupp Heynckes
After a long and tiring wait of 32 years, Real Madrid finally laid their hands on the European Cup in 1998. Managing the club at that time was Jupp Heynckes. That season, a Los Blancosa disappointed in La Liga as they managed a fourth-place finish but it seemed like grabbing the seventh European Cup, that too after a long time, will most certainly be enough to attain a legendary status for Jupp Heynckes. However, the club had different ideas as they went on to sack the German, immediately after winning the European Cup, for his dismal performance in the league.
Vicente Del Bosque
In his four years in charge at the club, Del Bosque won two European Cups, two La Liga titles, the World Club Cup and a European Super Cup. For any club in the world to win those trophies in a span of four years is something to be proud of. But Florentino Perez was still not satisfied and he went on to sack Del Bosque in 2003 for failing to retain the Champions League. The sacking of Del Bosque proved to be one of Pereza s worst decisions as it took 11 more managers and 12 years for Real Madrid to lay their hands on La Decima. After the sacking of Del Bosque, Real Madrid havena t really reached the kind of levels they did when the Spaniard was in-charge.
