Brendan Rodgers Refuses To Get Complacent, “Liverpool Still Have A Lot Of Work To Do”

Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool manager |

With Suarez's departure, Rodgers now has to fill a huge void.

Liverpool FC won against Burnley 2-0 courtesy a quality goal from Jordan Henderson and a header from Daniel Sturridge. The Reds now have won 9 out of their previous 11 games and with 10 games remaining, they sit in fifth place, two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United and three behind Arsenal in third.

Brendan Rodgers hailed the work his players have put in and the results which have come as a result of that, but refused to get complacent because of it.

a Over the last three months the games have been coming thick and fast but the players have stood up to that,a said Rodgers.

a Now we arrive with 10 games to go at a period of the season we are looking forward to.

a The nature of our game is based on confidence to play pass and move. You can see the pressing in our game is very good.

a We’ve put ourselves in a very good position but we still have a lot of work to go. We are at a good level now and hopefully we can keep going.a

Rodgers said about his team’s win over the Clarets, a It was an excellent performance. Our defensive organisation was good, and they only had one shot on target, and they are a team who have players who can cause problems.

a We scored two goals and had opportunities to make it more comfortable. It was very professional, and I was delighted with the performance and the result. We controlled the tempo of the game.a

Emre Can performed well in the game and has become a fan favorite with the Reds and Brendan Rodgers said he understood why the young German has found so much liking among the fans.

a If you give Emre another couple of years, he could play in any team in world football,a said the Reds boss. a That’s how highly I rate him.

a Playing at the back he is strong, aggressive and fast. He moves the ball well and can move into midfield, and whether central or out wide you can see his intelligence.

a Emre can break through lines with his power and pace and has great composure.

a You can see from the response of the crowd that they love him. He does the dirty work as well. He doesn’t just play and look nice, he presses the ball and is aggressive.

a I feel he will develop into a world-class player.a

However, it was Jordan Henderson who put in a man-of-the-match performance after scoring a quality goal in the first half in his 200th Premier League appearance, and his fifth one of the campaign, and he also assisted Daniel Sturridge’s goal in the first half. The Northern Irishman was quick to praise his stand-in captain.

a Jordan is improving all the time,a said Rodgers. a As he matures even more tactically, he will become even better.

a He has always had athleticism, he has a natural gift as an athlete, and tactically he is improving all the time. Technically, you can see his passing is improving.

a He is becoming one of the real leaders of this young team. It was a wonderful performance from him.

a His strike was terrific and that gives you greater confidence in the game.

a Jordan’s ball was terrific for the second goal. He had great technique and precision on that type of ball, and we’ve seen that before from him, and it was a good finish by Daniel.a
