Brendan Rodgers Is Not Safe; Liverpool Will Be Tempted By Jurgen Klopp: Report

In an eerie d j vu of October 2014, Brendan Rodgers’s job seems to be on the line once again after Liverpool very disappointingly crashed out of the FA Cup following a 2-1 loss to Aston Villa in the semi-final.

Tactically outfoxed by counterpart Tim Sherwood, Rodgers looked extremely confused for large parts, and switched the formation three or four times during the entirety of the semi-final.

With Jurgen Klopp becoming available this summer, rumors are bound to do rounds, especially since the German is said to be keen on a Premier League move and said he will not take a sabbatical.

James Pearce, reporter for Liverpool ECHO tweeted after the loss yesterday (in reply to a Liverpool fan) that Rodgers’s position will be safe in the summer.

Tony Evans, The Times’ Football Editor, claimed that Rodgers’s position at the club is not safe despite reports suggesting that the Northern Irishman will get another year despite the failures of this season.

Evans said that Liverpool may be tempted to replace Brendan Rodgers with Jurgen Klopp this summer.

a Liverpool might be tempted by Jurgen Klopp,” he said

“I wouldna t say Brendan Rodgers is safe. I didna t realise how close he was to losing his job in December until recently. FSG are very ruthless and they have a vision of how they want this club to work.”

Evans also added that FSG will have to change their model slightly if they’re to attract top managers to the club.

a If they went to Jurgen Klopp and said, ‘this is how ita s going to work’, I dona t think many managers of the highest standing would accept the way they want to go forward,” he said.

a They get the transfer committee to target players and giving the manager a group of young players to work with and coach them. Klopp would want more say over any new arrival.a
