Sacked Liverpool FC manager Brendan Rodgers has released a statement expressing his ‘incredible disappointment’ after leaving the club and has thanked the fans for their ‘unwavering support’.

The Northern Irishman took over the reigns of the club in 2012, when Kenny Dalgish was sacked by Liverpool FC. During his 3 years and 4 months long tenure at the helm of the club, the 42-year-old had helped the club to a second placed finish in 2014- his finest achievement to date.
Time was running out on the former Swansea City manager, who had failed to match high spending in the transfer market with results on the field. Rodgers had spent nearly A?292 million during his time at the club, but following a sixth placed finish last season there were no margin for errors.
Liverpool FC backed the manager during the summer transfer window, spending nearly A?80 million in recruitment as the club continued to struggle following the departure of talisman, Luis Suarez. The Reds had managed to win only four of the eleven matches this season and suffered heavy defeats to Manchester United and West Ham.
Rodgers was sacked within hours after his side drew 1-1 with Everton in the Merseyside derby, yesterday. Brendan Rodgers has released a statement through the League Managers Association.

a I am, of course, incredibly disappointed to be leaving Liverpool Football Club. It has been both an honour and a privilege to manage one of the gamea s great clubs for the last three years.
a I have worked every day to represent the club to the best of my ability, to develop both individual players and a team that the cluba s magnificent fans can be proud of. There have been some very memorable moments during my time at Liverpool and I would like to thank all of the players for their hard work and commitment. The current squad is one in transition, but they have some real talent and are showing a strong sense of togetherness. I expect to see them continue to grow and develop over the coming weeks and I wish them and my successor well for the rest of the season.
a Liverpool has a magnificent football heritage and I have nothing but respect and admiration for the history, tradition and values that make the city and the club so exceptional.
