Brazilian Star Signs With Real Madrid

Real Madrid have announced that Brazil fullback Marcelo joined Dani Carvajal as the latest player to extend his contract with the La Liga giants, extending his contract until 2020.

Real Madrid have secured the future of two of their fullbacks on either flanks with new five year deals.

Marcelo, 27, signed for Real Madrid from Fluminense in the 2007 January transfer window and has since go onto be a key player for the Spanish giants making 320 appearance and lifting the Champions League, Club World Cup, European Super Cup, three Liga titles and two Copa del Reys during his time.

While Spain international Carvajal, who was with Real Madrid since 10 years of age when before he went onto play for the club’s B side Castilla between 2010 and 2012, was sold to Bayer Leverkusen for a 5 million after failing to make a single first-team appearance for Real.

Following an impressive 2012-13 Bundesliga campaign, Real exercised their buy-back option to re-sign Carvajal, who has been a regular since his return to the Bernabeu and despite the recent signature of Danilo that did create media speculation on his future, the player has secured his long term future with his boyhood club.

The news will delight the Real Madrid fans, especially given recent reports of exit of Sergio Ramos and Iker Casillas from the club, with the later almost certain to leave as David De Gea’s departure is all but imminent.
