Borussia Dortmund: Three Players That Could Leave Following Kloppai??i??s Exit

According to reports, Borussia Dortmund are set to lose the services of manager Jurgen Klopp as the coach has asked CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke to release him from his contract at the end of the season. Kloppa s contract runs till 2018, but after enduring a disaster campaign this season, Klopp has decided to exit the club after the end of the season.

Dortmund have had to endure a terrible season as the club was close to relegation at one point of time. However, things have changed and Dortmund will manage to finish mid-table. But that does not seem to be enough for Klopp as the manager has decided to step down and leave the club. With a highly successful manager like Klopp deciding to leave the club, it can safely be predicted that a few Borussia Dortmund stars will want to do the same in search of Champions League football.

Mats Hummels

Germany international, Mats Hummels was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United last season. Now that Klopp will not be in the dug-out next season, it seems highly likely that the defender will move to a different league (read English Premier League) next season. Clubs like Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United will be more than happy to battle for the services of the centre-back. However, Manchester United are the favourites to land his services. The rumour has received more fuel with Klopp suggesting that a move to the Red Devils might be on Hummelsa mind as he told DW Sport: a He’s good enough for Manchester United. He’s told me he’s thinking things over.a

Ilkay Gundogan

Arsenal and Chelsea might be interested in signing Gundogan.

Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has been previously linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund and with a mid-table finish and Kloppa s exit on the cards, Gundogan will be seeking for a more ambitious club. Gundogan is a highly-rated midfielder and at 24-years of age, he has a lot of football to play. Clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City will be interested in signing the deep-lying playmaker and they are the clubs that offer regular Champions League football. Gundogan is a promising prospect but his fitness issues might prove to be a barrier in attaining a move to a top-club. He might be forced to remain at Dortmund if he does not improve his fitness and get rid of the injury troubles.

Marco Reus

Top clubs in Europe will be eager to fight for Reus’ signature.

After Lewandowski and Mario Goetzea s exit to Bayern, Marco Reus has been the ultimate star at the Signal Iduna Park. The winger was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid and Bayern Munich until he extended his contract with Dortmund in February that will see him at the club till 2019. However, now that Klopp will no longer be the manager at Dortmund and hardly any chances of the club qualifying for Champions League, Reus may be on the look-out for a more ambitious club. Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal may be interested in signing the star winger come summer. However, any club would have to spend big to land the Germana s signature. A move to the Premier League seems highly likely for the forward.
