Arsene Wenger Rejects The Idea Of Signing New Goalkeeper, Says, “I Believe In The Goalkeepers I Have”

Arsene Wenger has clarified that he is content with the performances of his present set of goalkeepers David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny and he is not looking forward to make any new signings in the goalkeeper position.

Recent rumours suggest that Real Madrid captain and goalkeeper Iker Casillas is strongly linked with North London side and the Spanish goalkeeper may move out of Real Madrid this summer.

When Wenger was asked about whether he is willing to make a new signing, he said, a No, not necessarily.

a Look, I believe in the goalkeepers I have. I believe that Szczesny is a very good goalkeeper and Ospina has come in and done a fantastic job. You look at the numbers in the Premier League and who is top of all the goalkeepers and you will see it is Ospina.a

Arsene Wenger had signed Colombian international David Ospina last summer. In the initial stages of the season Wojciech Szczesny was preferred as the regular first team custodian. But as the season progressed Ospina took his place and replaced him as the first choice.

Ospinaa performance this season has been noteworthy and has a unique feat against his name. In the 13 Premier League games he played, Arsenal won 11 times. Ospina also maintained 7 clean sheets within this short tenure.

Going by his performance, The Colombian can be entrusted with the responsibility of custodian and with Szczesny as his cover, it is not necessary for Wenger to invest in the goalkeeping department.
