Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has revealed that he isn’t looking at a possible return to Germany at the moment and has also termed the Premier League as the ‘strongest league in the world.’
The former Real Madrid man told German publication Express, “A return to Germany is not an option for me right now. I am really happy at Arsenal and I want this to continue.
“I played in the Bundesliga and at Real Madrid. But the English Premier League is the strongest league in the world. Opponents never give up.
“Even if we’re 3-0 in front with Arsenal, the players never give up and fight until the very last second.
“You can only succeed here when you’re on top level physically.”
“I don’t need to prove anything. But it is correct that I have to work harder to reach my goals,a he continued.
“That’s why I’m working as hard as I never worked before in my life. My body is more stable and I feel fresher. You need that in England.”
Ozil’s first half of the current season was wrecked due to a Raptured Knee Ligament which led to him missing 18 games in all competitions. He has returned stronger and has provided five assists in the last seven Premier League games after he managed just one assist in the opening seven games where he was found out and put in some lethargic displays. He has also scored twice since his return to the team in mid-January
The German was praised by manager Arsene Wenger a few months ago after recovering well from the ligament injury, “He has worked hard, I think he has taken to the fact that he wants to be stronger,” Wenger had said.
a You have more time to focus on it [when you are injured]. Every day he is in the gym – he can work on it, as well as the fact you don’t have the fatigue of (playing) the games.
“It is not only down to pure strength when you play football. It is down to when to switch your strength on and the timing of your switch on.”
With important games coming up for Arsenal in the League and the FA Cup, Arsenal fans will hope that the World Cup winner will be at his best and help salvage Arsenal’s season, which in all, honesty has been disappointing so far.
