.

Tomorrowa s encounter is set to be the 222nd match between the two teams and we take a look at the last three encounters ahead of tomorrowa s crunch clash.

  1. Manchester United 1 a 1 Arsenal FC (17th May 2015)

The Red Devils opened the scoring in the first half, when Ander Herrera slammed a volley past David Ospina after Marouane Fellainia s movement inside the box had drawn the defenders towards him.

A victory for the home side would have seen them move above Arsenal FC at third place with only one fixture remaining in the season. Alexis Sanchez was largely subdued on the night, as he was offered little service from the Gunnersa midfield.

The North London outfit almost equalized when Aaron Ramsey lifted the ball over David De Gea and if not for a brilliant clearance by Rojo, who was originally at fault for losing the midfielder, the Gunners would have drawn level.

David De Gea was substituted with question marks surrounding his future at Old Trafford after sustaining a back injury. Debutant Victor Valdes came on to replace the 24-year-old, but conceded when Tyler Blackett turned in a Theo Walcott shot in the back of the net. Walcott had got on the end of a wonderfully disguised through ball from Ramsey.

  1. Manchester United 1 a 2 Arsenal FC (FA Cup Quarter Finals a 9th March 2015)

Arsenal FCa s deadline day recruit of the summer transfer window, Danny Welbeck, scored on his return to Old Trafford to send his new side to Wembley.

After some neat trickery by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the edge of the Manchester United box, the English winger threaded through a ball for on-rushing left-back Nacho Monreal, who slotted home past David De Gea to give the Gunners the lead in the 25th minute.

The lead did not last long, as the Red Devilsa captain, Wayne Rooney, nodded home an Angel di Maria cross to rack up his 14th goal against Arsenal FC.

However, it was the Manchester United academy product, who scored against his boyhood club, capitalizing on an under-hit Antonio Valencia back pass, before rounding off David De Gea to score the winner for the Gunners.

Angel di Mariaa s tryst with the English Premier League went from bad to worse as the Argentine was sent-off after picking up two bookings in as many minutes, first for diving and the second for pushing referee Michael Oliver.

Arsenal FC went on to win the competition, thumping Aston Villa in the finals at Wembley to lift their second consecutive FA Cup.

  1. Arsenal FC 1 a 2 Manchester United (22nd November 2014)

Louis van Gaal celebrated his first away win since taking over the reins at Old Trafford as Arsenal FC recorded their worst start in 32 years.

Van Gaala s side had failed to win any of their previous six fixtures on the road, but the win over the Gunners helped the Red Devils enter the top four. Jack Wilshere, who was probably Arsenal FCa s best player on the pitch, was substituted after a Paddy McNair challenge resulted in ligament damage to the English midfielder.

Arsenal FC dominated the game for large parts, but were unable to find a breakthrough. The Gunners then conceded in comical fashion when goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny took out his own teammate Kieran Gibbs as the Polish international made a mess of an Ashley Young cross. Antonio Valencia got on the end of the clearance and his cross ricocheted off Gibbs to open the scoring for the Red Devils. The Pole was injured in this mix-up and had to be replaced by debutant Damian Martinez.

Wayne Rooney capitalised as Arsenal FC tried to force things through, latching on to a Di Maria through ball before lifting the ball over Martinez.

Olivier Giroud, who was coming back after a layoff due to a leg fracture, scored a thunderous drive in the 9 minutes of stoppage time, but the Gunners failed to find a second goal. The Gunners were left with only 17 points from 12 games after the disappointing defeats at the hands of Manchester United.
