Arsenal FC Transfer News: FC Barcelona Reportedly Ignite Interest In Theo Walcott

Theo Walcott might be sidelined due to injury currently, but speculation over the future of his career at Arsenal FC seems to be rife, with FC Barcelona reportedly being one of the parties interested in acquiring the services of the Englishman.

Walcott, who has played most of his career as a winger, has always maintained that he would be much more effective playing in a central role in attack. His words seem to have been finally heeded by Arsenal FC manager Arsene Wenger, who has been playing the diminutive England international up front this season.

Walcott has been sharing his centre-forward responsibilities with Frenchman Olivier Giroud, and the duo had scored six goals each up until this week, before the Englishman got injured.

This change in role, and subsequent good performance seems to have attracted fresh interest in the 26-year-old. FC Barcelona are reportedly looking to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window, and Arsenal’s Theo Walcott is said to be one of the names that they are looking into, according to Deportivo Mundo (via Daily Mirror).

However, they may not be looking at Walcott as expressly a centre-forward, with the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar already present in the team. Instead, the Catalonian club is reportedly looking at Walcott as a replacement for Rafinha, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to injury.

Walcott transfer to set off move for Isco?

Should this transfer happen, it could set off another move — that of unsettled Real Madrid CF playmaker Isco to the Emirates.

“I’m comfortable anywhere, as long as it’s on the pitch. I will continue working and fighting to make it difficult for the manager,” Isco was quoted saying by Spanish daily Marca.

.

Arsenal FC have reportedly been on Isco’s tail for some time now, with Liverpool FC not too far behind in the race either. However, it would be interesting to see whether the Merseysiders relinquish their interest in the Spaniard, as they have recently come under the new management of Jurgen Klopp.
