Arsene Wenger seems to be trying to solve his midfield problems at Arsenal FC, and is reportedly set to launch a huge bid for Sevilla midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak.
The Gunners have been rendered rather weak in the midfield area with a few injuries and are in need of a proper holding midfielder. They have been eyeing the Polish midfielder for a long time now and were reportedly close to bidding for him in summer.
Now however, Arsene Wenger seems to be a bit more desperate, and is very close to launching a A?33 million bid for Krychowiak, according to The Sun.
Injuries plaguing the Gunners
With five of their midfielders injured at the moment, Arsenal FC have been left light in the midfield area. More importantly, they have only one natural defensive midfielder in the form of Francis Coquelin, who is out with a knee injury.
While Mathieu Flamini is filling into that position at the moment, the Gunners would need another player in that position in order to keep up their title-winning momentum. Arsenal FC would have to play in the Premier League, the Champions League, and the FA Cup and the second half of the season could get a bit too hectic for them. This may require them to have a bigger squad.
Not a cheap transfer
Wenger had reportedly tried to sign Krychowiak in the summer, but Sevilla’s demand of A?22 million had apparently put the Frenchman off. In light of recent injury issues in his team, he seems to be ready to pay A?11 million more for the Polish midfielder, who is priced at A?18.5 million by . Transfernarkt.
With three and a half years still to go on his contract, it is obvious that Krychowiak would cost considerably more than this figure. Wenger seems to have anticipated this and is set to prepare a bid of A?33 million for him.
