Arsenal FC Target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Rules Out Borussia Dortmund Exit

Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reiterated the desire to stay with Borussia Dortmund, while dismissing speculation linking him with a move away from Signal Iduna Park.

The 26-year-old is happy at the Bundesliga club, with French champions Paris Saint Germain along with English giants Arsenal FC said to be interested in the services of the Gabon striker, who is not for sale according to BVB CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke.

Aubameyang opened the scoring against Juventus

Last night in Borussia Dortmund‘s emphatic 2-0 victory over Juventus, Aubameyang opened the scoring with a deft finish, from the edge of the box, before team-mate and good friend Marco Reus scored a brilliant solo goal, darting from his own half with the ball, he tore through the Juventus defence, before making a mockery of Italian Leonardo Bonucci with a brilliant nut-meg and scoring past debutant Neto. Speaking to the press after the game, the 26-year-old said:

“You can take it for granted that I am not going to waste any time thinking about giving up how happy I am at Borussia, in the city of Dortmund and with this team.

“Dortmund have won the title twice in the last five years, we reached a Champions League final and had Real Madrid on the brink of elimination in the group stage when they went on to win it.

“If I didn’t believe that I could win titles with Dortmund, then I wouldn’t be here.”

The Bundesliga giants had a terrible start to last season under Jurgen Klopp, as they found themselves sitting at the bottom of the Bundesliga in January, however, a late charge saw them qualify for the Europa League. They have won five out of five, under new manager Thomas Tuchel. Aubameyang added:

“There should not be any reason for any team to hide in this league,” he said. “We’ve always proven we are capable of beating [Bayern Munich] in a single match, but of course they have a better chance over the course of a season.

.

“But I don’t see them having any particular right to the title like many people here in Germany do.”

Can Dortmund win the Bundesliga this year?

Having won the Bundesliga twice in the last five years, the struggling Signal Iduna Park out-fit have a mountain to climb, if they are to rest the ghosts of last year, which saw them at the bottom of the Bundesliga in January and start brilliantly if they want to challenge the almighty Bayern Munich and their growing monopoly. However, if Dortmund are to even dream of such a feat, they need to recruit intelligently, while also hold on to their star players, namely Marco Reus, Mats Hummels, Ilkay Gundogan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all said to be transfer targets of some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
