Arsenal FC Star Aaron Ramsey: ‘I Want To Be Like Steven Gerrard.’

Arsenal FC midfielder Aaron Ramsey says that he wants to emulate the Liverpool FC great Steven Gerrard in terms of being the complete midfielder.

Steven Gerrard is set to be officially released by Liverpool FC at the end of this month, following the end of his contract. The Liverpool legend is set to play in the MLS for the LA Galaxy.

As one great midfield maestro departs, Aaron Ramsey readies himself to become the one to fill the great man’s shoe. The Premier League has seen some great midfielders, but, Ramsey is in no doubt he is looking to emulate.

In an interview, he said: a I think a top-class midfielder needs to be able to tackle, get up and down the pitch, pass, create opportunities and score goals,a

a Thata s why I try to do everything, thata s what I judge my game on.”

a If you look at someone like Steven Gerrard, he combines all of those elements. Thata s what I want to [emulate]a so thata s what I base my game on.a

.

When asked how the Arsenal FC midfield maestro constantly sets and revises his targets (not just for goalsa at least double figures each seasona but also in categories like tackles made and passes completed), he says that he goes through over his statistics after every match.

a Ita s something I like to do, just to see generally where I am, compared to other games,” he says.

Aaron Ramsey had injury setbacks once again, this season, that prevented the player from showing the vast potential. Ramsey says that for this Arsenal FC side needs consistency, more than anything else, to win the league.

a I think our general form, in the second half of the season especially, was really good,a he notes, highlighting away wins against Manchester City (in the league) and Manchester United (in the FA Cup) as signs of the growing confidence in the squad.

a What we managed to show throughout the season is that we can compete against the biggest teams, and now we must build on that for next season. We can start the season on the front foot and with greater ambitions.”

a We are going in the right direction. We have improved as a team defensively, and obviously wea ve shown we are able to create and score goals so ita s just about getting that consistency throughout the season.a
