Arsenal are ready to bolster their defence by recruiting Espanyol defender, Hector Moreno, in the summer transfer window.
Arsenala s 2014-15 season was plagued with several injury woes. The biggest crisis for the Gunners was in the defence and Wenger was at times forced to play left-back Nacho Monreal as a centre-half. Wenger purchased a central defender, Gabriel, in the January transfer window from Villarreal. And now, reports suggest that the Frenchman is ready to purchase another defender from Spain, in the upcoming transfer window.
Mexican defender, Hector Moreno, who has been watched by Arsenal for almost 18 months now, is believed to be gearing up to leave Espanyol. The centre-back is apparently willing to do anything to join the Gunners and Sport reports that Arsenal are ready to offer A?14.3 million for the Mexican.
Arsenal may receive competition from clubs like Sevilla and Tottenham Hotspur, who are also keen on signing the 27-year old. However, Arsenal have an edge, as they have been scouting the defender for a while now. And now, with Wenger ready to make a summer bid and Moreno keen on joining the Gunners, it seems that Arsenal have the upper hand and will sign the defender eventually.
Moreno featured in both the 2010 and 2014 World Cups for Mexico. The defender joined Espanyol in 2010 and his contract is due for renewal in 2016.
