Arsenal FC ai??i?? Ospina Refuses To Rule Out Everton Move

Arsenal FC goalkeeper David Ospina insisted that he is determined to fight for his place, but has refused to rule out a move to Everton this summer.

The 26-year-old moved to Arsenal at the start of last season, after impressing in the World Cup with Colombia. Although he started his debut season on the bench, eventually he displaced Wojciech Szczesny and became the number one for Arsene Wenger. The former Nice goalkeeper ended up making 20 appearances in all competition and made a decent start to his Premier League career. But after just one season with the Gunners, Ospinaa s future has come under a lot of speculations this summer.

Arsenal signed Petr Cech from Chelsea this summer and the Czech international will be Wengera s first choice keeper next season. Reports suggest that it is Ospina who will make way for Cech, as the Colombian has been linked with a move away from the Emirates. Wenger still believes that Szczesny can fulfil his potential and will be helped by the guidance of Cech, which casts a doubt on Ospinaa s future at the club.

In an interview with AS Colombia, Ospina insisted that at the moment he is determined to extend his stay with the London club.

“As of today, I am an Arsenal goalkeeper. I have four years left on my contract. Let’s see what happens. Now I am mentally prepared to continue at Arsenal, to continue showing my level and everything David Ospina can offer to Arsenal.” a Ospina said.

Recent reports have linked him with a move to Everton, with Roberto Martinez looking for a long-term replacement for 36-year-old Tim Howard. Ospina has refused to rule out the possibility of a move to the Merseyside club, but stressed on his desire to continue his career at the Emirates.

“Everton? They are a very competitive team, that showed important things last season, with a good coach, and that plays good football. They are a team to take into account and a big possibility,

“There are some (other) possibilities, but my mind is on Arsenal. I want to continue there. I am very happy in London and so are my family, so therefore I hope at least to respect the contract, which is for another four years.” a He added.

The Colombian has also expressed his delight at having the opportunity to play alongside and learn from Arsenala s new signing Petr Cech.

.

“Now an excellent keeper has arrived who I admire. During my holidays I’m analysing a lot of things and then I’ll have a conversation with the manager.

“For me, it will be an honour to play alongside a keeper with that experience. A goalkeeper keeps learning every day.” a The Arsenal keeper concluded.
