Arsenal FC are interested in Nice full-back Jordan Amavi.

According to French website Mercato365, the Gunners are looking at French starlet Jordan Amavi to bring in this summer. Atletico Madrid and Lyon are also interested in the player

The left-back currently plays for OGC Nice in the French Ligue 1. During his first season with the club, Amavi featured marginally with nine starts in his 19 appearances. But in the last season, the Frenchman proved himself indispensable in manager Claude Puel’s plans with 36 starts in the league. The departure of Timothee Kolodziejcza to Sevilla ensured Amavi had the chance to become the club’s preferred left-back and the player didn’t disappoint when entrusted with the responsibility. Amavi has proved he is a player with tremendous potential.

.

An epitome of the modern full-back, Amavi is extremely effective going forward and is composed and assured in his role defensively. The fact that he is only 21 years old means that there is tremendous room for potential and the player is only going to improve.

Arsenal currently have Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs as their left-backs. Monreal is wanted by La Liga side Athletic Bilbao, according to a report in The Mirror at the end of last month. This means that Arsene Wenger would have to add another player in that position before the start of the season and it makes sense for him to look at the talented Amavi to fill the void.

The above comparison of a few stats gives us an idea of how Amavi could prove to be a good addition to the squad and be a significant upgrade over the present left-backs at the club.

Although Arsenal don’t need to sell Monreal, who ended the season as first-choice left-back, if they feel a very good offer comes in for him, they will cash in on the Spaniard. There were also some rumors suggesting Liverpool wanted Gibbs in a deal that could see Sterling move the other way. Hence it makes sense for the Gunners to be looking elsewhere and Amavi could be a smart signing for the club.
