Arsenal FC in the race to sign Dortmund’s Marco Reus, Bayern ruled out

Arsenal are back in contention of signing Borussia Dortmunda s Marco Reus.

Marco Reus, who is one of the important cogs of the Dortmund side, could well become available in the summer transfer window, along with a host of other superstars from the club, as Dortmund seem to be on the path to relegation.

With only 15 points from 17 games, Dortmund are in really bad shape, and despite having had a great group stage in the Champions League, havena t been able to replicate that to the league. They have just won 4 games in their entire league campaign, and with 3 other draws, they have lost an overwhelming 10 games so far this season. That is definitely not championship form, and if it continues, will most likely see Dortmund get relegated.

Even if Dortmund somehow manages to stay up, they will not be in any position to even reach the Champions League spots, and will at best finish mid table. Such a scenario would not be conducive for top players to stay and Reus would be one player who would be looking at his options very seriously.

Arsenal are one of the top clubs that would gladly take the attacking midfielder into his team and Arsene Wenger has always been interested in the German. Of course, Arsenal have a lot of talent in the forward line and they wouldna t really need Reus to help with the attack. But Arsenal have been repeatedly linked with the German for the last couple of transfer windows, and this could very well happen in the summer.

Obviously Reus wouldna t come cheaply at all, and with Dortmunda s position, they would want to take as much transfer money as possible. They would love to have a bidding war, but Bayern Munich have already ruled out making any move for him. This leaves clubs from Spain and England who could have a realistic chance of getting him, and Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are in the race for the German.

The good news for clubs circling around Reus is that if he does not agree a new contract before the summer, he has a release clause of A?20 million. Arsenal have already shown that they are more than willing to make big signings with Ozil and Sanchez, and 20 million would be an amount of money that Arsene would gladly sanction to have a mercurial talent in his team.

It may well all boil down to the wages and which club Reus would be more interested in, but Arsenal certainly have a great chance of making another big signing in the summer.
