Arsenal FC in line to sign Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Marcelo Brozovic

Arsenal are in pole position to sign Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.

Amidst reports that the player has agreed a deal with Serie A club Napoli, Brozovica s agent Mioslav Bicanic said that wasna t the case.

a I deny what has been said in the last few days, it’s not true that he will go to Napoli,” Bicanic told Europacalcio.it. “I have not heard anything from the club.

There are offers from major English clubs but right now I will not name names.”

However, in the past, Bicanic all but confirmed that Arsenal are interested in the player. a We hope he can change clubs and come to England as it is one of the best leagues in the world, but the decision depends on Dinamo,” Bicanic told Goal.com.

“Of course Marcelo would be interested in playing in the Premier League with a club such as Arsenal.”

“We are talking to several clubs, although there is nothing concrete at this moment”.

“We know of Arsenal’s interest, but there is nothing agreed. At this moment Marcelo is with Dinamo and everything depends on Dinamo. They have to agree a price with a club and then we can hold talks.”

However, if Arsenal are to make a successful bid for Brozovic, they will have to convince Dinamo Zagreb with a huge offer, according to manager Zoran Mamic.

“We have no offers. If someone wants one of our key players it can only be with a memorable bid — if they knock me off my feet. That is my principle. And the numbers appearing in the media do not interest us,” Mamic told sportski.net earlier in November.

Arsenal, however, are not known to make a memorablea bids, and so it would be interesting to see how this goes. The club have just confirmed the signing of youngster Krystian Bielik, whom manager Arsene Wenger is willing to throw into the first team.

With the already crowded midfield that the gunners have, Arsenal spending any kind of significant money on another midfielder would only come at the expense of one of the established players. The possible players that could be discarded to accommodate Brozovic would be Rosicky, Flamin and Arteta. However, reports indicated that the club and Arteta have all but agreed on an extension and the club captain is almost sure to stay on for at least one more year.

There are other midfielders who are also in line to try to stake a claim in the first teama s midfield, with Zelalem and Crowley impressing the manager and the fans alike.
